Ready when the Rain Stops: Preparing for Drought with Riverware
  Lissa Gregg—Freese and Nichols Inc.

ABSTRACT
Drought is a fact of life in Texas and while it cannot be predicted, it must be planned for. In 1999, the Texas Legislature began requiring municipalities, wholesale water providers, and irrigators to prepare a Drought Contingency Plan(DCP), with updates every five years. A large part of many DCPs are lake elevations that trigger certain water use restrictions and other drought management measures. The recent drought put many of these plans to the test. This presentation will present a case study for determining appropriate drought triggers using Riverware based on lesson learned from the real world experience of implementing a DCP in the last drought.
