RiverWare Applications at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District

John Daylor

Abstract: The RiverWare program is used by Tulsa District to assist the water control mission of the District. RiverWare’s Southwest Division operational balance level method for flood control is used in conjunction with rules based period of record simulation. In addition to flood control, modeling includes logic of conservation storage operations for hydropower, diversion, and low flow. Therefore, RiverWare modeling application closely reflects actual day-to-day reservoir and system operational criteria. RiverWare’s statistical routines also provide a tool to analyze results. RiverWare modeling is used to investigate proposed alternatives with reservoir and system operations. Tulsa District has several active studies involving RiverWare that include reservoir regulation manual updates, dam safety analysis, M&I yield determination with reduced capacity from sediment, low flow investigations, and proposed seasonal pool plans.
